Musical Collaboration

So some of us are getting together today to help finish up some original songs at NLC. Thanks to Angie & Luke Brown for letting us use their amazing new house while they are at work! Here’s some pics… the songs should be played in the coming months sets so be on the look out for em!

Passion.

There comes a time when we have so much emotion within us that we can’t help but burst out and do things we wouldn’t normally do in our social settings:  shout at the top of our lungs about love, scream in frustration at a sporting event, cry when heartbroken, laugh continuously at a comedy club. Emotions can drive us. They can overtake us. The Bible says even Jesus wept (John 11:35), to the point of sweating blood. It’s a healthy thing to express emotions. David let it all go when he danced naked in the streets (2 Samuel 6:14-16). He was so overcome by what God was doing in Him he had to let it out. He was driven by passion for God. It’s the same way we should be. Wherever we are—in our work, in our schools, in our homes—we need to be driven by passion from God, or we’ll fizzle out in frustration or boredom. We’ll feel like we shouldn’t be there.  We’ll feel like we’ve missed our calling. But the truth is, we are called to witness to others.  We are called to love others. We are called to live life to the fullest wherever we are.

God is our Guide…

Posted this on the NLC Worship page a couple weeks ago. Thought I’d add it here as well.

When we’re out hiking with a guide, the guide’s been where we’re going — even if it’s just a few steps ahead. When we’re leading the hike or if we’re on our own, there’s a good chance that no one’s been where we’re headed. That can bring fear and uncertainty to our hearts. We hope that we’ve gathered enough knowledge and supplies to get us through a storm. The experience entices us, but on our own, the experience could be our doom.

The greatness of following Jesus is that He’s been in the steps we’re about to take. Every move and every thought of God has purpose. He never asks someone to go where He hasn’t been. There’s no fear where God leads us. Our God, who can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, goes before us and makes sure the coast is clear. He knows what storms may rise, and He’s stuffed our bags full of maps and supplies.

He’s done His part and offered to lead us through life. We must do our part and trust in the direction He’s leading. We must know that no matter what comes He is our refuge and strength…And our guide.

Drugs.

So this is what I’ve been taking for the last week…

Hydrocodone or dihydrocodeinone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from either of two naturally occurring opiates, codeine and thebaine. Hydrocodone is an orally active narcotic analgesic (pain reliever) and antitussive (cough suppressant). It is commonly available in tablet, capsule, and syrup form, and is often compounded with other analgesics like paracetamol or ibuprofen. (Wikipedia)

Which is combined in liquid form with…

I have to take it every four hours or my throat hurts. Which includes setting my alarm twice for the middle of the night. Now,  I’m not one to take meds, or see doctors, but if they gave me this stuff every time… I’m in.

Thanks Doc. They prescribed two of these bottles. With refills.
